Assateague State Park Campground


Camping at Assateague Island National Seashore is permitted only on the Maryland side of Assateague. Assateague State Park is located on the Maryland side of Assateague and provides over 300 campsites, while the National Park Service provides bayside and oceanside campsites year-round. Backcountry camping is also available for campers who wish to backpack or paddle the island.

Camping is available from April 30 to November 1 (campsites available year-round in the national park sites). There are 350 sites available for camping. Tents, trailers & RVs are allowed, and sites with electric hookups are available. Each site also has a picnic table and ground fire grill. Hot water bathhouse facilities are also available. Drinking water, cold water showers and chemical toilets are available within the national park, Campers can have two tents and a maximum of six people or immediate family per site. No pets are allowed.

Attraction Advice

Primitive Campsites: $30 per night Campsites with electrical hookups: $40 per night. Off-season (October 16 to April 14) rate is $16 per night. Peak season (April 15 to October 15) rate is $20 per night. Campsites are available by reservation during peak season only. Off-season sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
