Box Canyon Falls Park is a developed waterfall attraction situated in the “Switzerland of America”, Ouray. It showcases an 85-foot cascade of water down Canyon Creek. Visitors can witness this breathtaking attraction both above and below the waterfall. It thunders down into a quartzite canyon narrowly surrounded by 100-foot walls.
Box Canyon Falls is a wonder. The waterfall plunges 285 feet through a narrow slot canyon with amazing force. The City of Ouray built this park in order to allow visitors to get up close and personal with this impressive waterfall. The park has two main attractions, the lower trail, and the upper trail. The lower trail consists mostly of a steel walkway weaving through the slot canyon to the base of the falls. Those on this trail will get wet.
Trip AdvisorThe fee to access the park is $3 for children 4-17 years old, $5 for adults and teens 18 – 62, and $4 for seniors 62 – 74. Seniors over 75 and children 3 and younger are admitted free. The Box Cañon Falls Visitor Center is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm during the month of May; 8 am to 8 pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day; 8 am to dusk after Labor Day. The center is closed from November through April.
