Explore Nature’s Original Water Park

Local Attractions

Welcome to the communities of Minocqua, Arbor Vitae, and Woodruff - Nature’s Original Water Park™. We are located in Northern Wisconsin’s Lake Country where there are thousands of lakes, rivers, and streams that literally saturate the geography. Vacationers have long been visiting the Minocqua Area to enjoy all this water by boating, swimming, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, biking, atving, and more. There are no admission fees and we’re open year-round!

Vilas and Oneida counties have one of the largest concentrations of water bodies in the world. So, take your pick of lakes and rivers and head out to view the Northwoods from an entirely different angle. Hundreds of area lakes offer endless opportunities for water-lovers to swim, sail, water ski, boat, and pontoon. And, if you don’t have your own water transportation, rentals are readily available.

If you don’t own a boat, no worries. Numerous local businesses rent all kinds of watercraft. Many will set you up with ski boats, fishing boats, pontoons, and jet skis. Some even offer free delivery of your choice of watercraft to most boat landings on the Minocqua chain.

Seasoned anglers and novices alike enjoy testing their skills in the Minocqua area’s lakes, rivers and streams. Most support a variety of fish, such as Northern Pike, Muskellunge, Large and Smallmouth Bass, Trout and Walleye, and most have public access.

Thanks to the hard work of our area snowmobile clubs and volunteers, an extensive network of professionally groomed trails — more than 1700 miles — are maintained in the Minocqua area. These trails traverse a magnificent natural environment that includes 1,300 glacial lakes and 233,000 acres of public forest land. This, combined with our 65-inch annual average snowfall, makes for some of the Midwest's best sledding.

We might be known for our waterways but don't miss out on taking to dry land, with endless miles of woodland paths and back byways that offer great walking or pedaling among the most spectacular scenery you can imagine. You can spend an entire season and never be on the same trail twice.

The Minocqua area is an outdoor lover’s paradise. With over a million acres of public forest and over 600 miles of trails, there is no excuse not to get out there. The thousands of gorgeous lakes, rivers, and streams help to create the most spectacular scenery imaginable.
