In 1893, the Staatsburgh Golf Club, a nine-hole course and one of the first 50 courses in America, was formed by wealthy Hudson Valley families – the Dinsmores, Mills, Hoyts, Rogers, Astors, and others. The course was eventually named after the club’s first president, William B. Dinsmore II.
