Lake Guntersville State Park

Lake Guntersville Resort State Park is located along the banks of the Tennessee River in Northeast Alabama. Whether visitors are looking for a resort-style retreat or an outdoor adventure in the park’s 6,000 acres of natural woodlands, Lake Guntersville State Park will satisfy most needs.

Among the park’s many recreational offerings are an 18-hole championship golf course, the Screaming Eagle Zipline, a beach complex, an outdoor nature center, excellent fishing in Alabama’s largest lake, 36 miles of hiking and biking trails, weekly guided hikes, and a day-use area. For visitors who would like to adventure outside the park, other area attractions include downtown Guntersville.

One of the main attractions at the park soars high above all the others. Thanks to conservation efforts, Alabama's nesting bald eagle population is increasing, and Guntersville has become a focal point of Eagle Awareness in the state. Each year, on select weekends in January and February the park’s Eagle Awareness programs entertain and educate the public about our once endangered national symbol.

The massive resort inn, restaurant, and convention center are perfect for national, state, or regional meetings. The convention center boasts meeting facilities large enough to easily accommodate a banquet or opening session as well as smaller breakout rooms to facilitate multiple groups.

Regardless of the reason for visiting the park, there is plenty of overnight and extended stay options. Choose from a modern campground with several outdoor opportunities, cabins that rest on the bank of the Guntersville Lake, chalets nestled in the ridge-tops, or the resort lodge on the pinnacle of Taylor Mountain that offers a stunning view. Accommodations are available that are handicap accessible and dog friendly.
