Brazosport is a coastal community located just 50 miles south of Houston that comprises the cities of Clute, Freeport, Lake Jackson, Quintana and Surfside Beach. This is your destination if you are looking for sandy beaches and affordable family fun. Visit any of the beaches, attractions, nature sites and restaurants to discover why Brazosport is the perfect getaway.

There is no shortage of activities to entertain all ages in the Brazosport Area. Family fun can be found at Sea Center Texas, an aquarium and the world’s largest Redfish hatchery, or at one of the two National Wildlife Refuges. Take in a planetarium show or explore one of the largest seashell collections in the South at the Center for the Arts & Sciences. Recreational opportunities are endless in the Brazosport Area. The beaches and gulf offer great leisure and sport activities for the whole family. Cast a line from the surf, jetties, any pier or bank for the catch of the day…visit any of the beaches, attractions, nature sites and restaurants to discover why Brazosport is the perfect getaway.

The Brazosport Area is teeming with diverse fishing opportunities. Bryan Beach, Quintana Beach, and Surfside Beach are ideal for surf fishing. There are dozens of boat ramps, marinas, and bait and tackle shops in the area, making it a boat owner’s paradise. Cast a line from the abundant and easily accessible jetties, piers or banks. For others, the deep Gulf is easily accessible from the many charter boats of all sizes that make their headquarters in Freeport and surrounding areas.

Prairies, hardwood forests, rivers, bayous, marshes, lakes, bays and the Gulf of Mexico shoreline characterize the Brazosport area. This ecological diversity, combined with the area’s mild climate and position within the Central Flyway make Brazosport home and haven to more than 300 species of native and migratory birds.

With 27 miles of sandy coastline, Brazosport is the perfect backdrop for sunbathing, shelling, camping, fishing, and otherwise kicking back under the big Texas sun.

A 52 Weeks of Fun Fascinating Fact about Lake Jackson

In November 2003, a mammoth was found buried in a sand pit near Brazoswood High School. The pair of tusks was believed to be the remains of the first-dated mammoth discovered on the Texas Gulf Coast.
