Welcome to our backyard! Baxley and Appling County have a great deal of fun activities for all ages. Regardless of what you are looking for, Baxley and Appling County are sure to provide you with an exciting backdrop for your stay in Southeast Georgia.

Baxley is the intersection of two major thoroughfares, creating a centralized hub for Southeast Georgia activities from industry to shopping, entertainment and more. In Baxley and Appling County we are fortunate to have a cohesive community where leaders from across entities work together for the betterment of our city and county. Take a journey down the mighty Altamaha River on one of the annual canoe & kayak paddles or enjoy fishing or boating in one of two local lakes.

The Moody Forest Nature Conservancy offers miles of walking/biking trails through the 4,400 acre wilderness. Join the 200 mile Peaches to the Beaches Yard sale the second weekend in March, for new and old items alike. If it is heritage you are looking for, the Baxley Heritage center has collected the history of Baxley and Appling County all the way back to before Appling County was incorporated in 1818.

If you visit in the fall, be sure to look up the local play, “In the Pines”, which takes viewers back in time to Appling County happenings from the early days of its settlement.

Caroline Miller, the first Pulitzer Prize winner from Georgia, wrote her legendary book, Lamb in his Bosom at her home in Baxley, now a museum.

Baxley is the location of an annual Hot Air Balloon Festival.

The Appling County Courthouse in Baxley was built in 1907 in the Neoclassical style and is constructed of limestone and concrete. The interior is made of Georgia marble.

Baxley and Appling County are in the heart of Georgia peach country.

The Moody Forest features 300-year-old longleaf pines and mammoth tupelo cypress more than 600 years old, as well as other rare and endangered species of animals and plants.
